Sciatic Nerve Therapy - 3 Things to Discuss With Your Doctor
Posted by admin in Prescription Pain Killers on July 19th, 2009
Chances are that your doctor does not stay up nights worrying about your sciatica. That being said, if you are not making the most of your time at your doctor’s visits, you are shooting yourself in the foot as far as your sciatic nerve pain?therapy. Be sure you know what to talk to your doctor about. Make sure your visits are not just a waste of what could have been perfectly good video game money.
1. Know your Sciatic Type - Believe it or not, there are two common types of sciatica. Knowing your sciatic type will give you the power to target certain exercises and remedies specific to what you are going through. Although there are other types of sciatic nerve pain out there, the two main types of sciatica are:
a) Common sciatica - Whenever you hear people talk about sciatica, this is the one they are talking about. It is the sciatica that affects most people.
b) Sciatica from piriformis syndrome - This is for people who have sciatic pain as a result of the piriformis muscle around the bootie.
2. Exercises for your sciatic type- Now that you know your sciatic type, it is time to ask your good doctor about any exercises you should be doing. It would be awesome if one type of sciatic nerve pain?therapy worked across the board for all sciatica patients. For the most part, it does, but some people will swear that a certain exercise worked for their common sciatica while those same exercises tortured a person with piriformis sciatica.
3. Journaling for Sciatic Nerve Pain Therapy - Whatever path you choose on this strange wonderland called sciatica, be sure to journal. Every day, what you have eaten, what exercises you have done, and what pills (if any) you have taken. You will usually find yourself ‘journaling today to read tomorow’, as food and such usually takes a day or so for results to start being seen. Take this journal to your doctor, you guys can figure out what works, what needs to be tweaked, and what to banish into the unknown.
