What discs do you mean?

Your discs lie between your vertebrae in your back.? They have a soft squidgy centre, surrounded by a tough outer ring.

How does a disc prolapse?

If a disc is damaged, which can be caused by many different actions or incidents, then the disc can press against some of your nerves in your back - this is where the pain comes from, not really from the disc, but by it pressing against a nerve.

Usually this occurs in the lower back, but can also occur in the neck.

Under pressure?

The pain is normally is caused by an increase in pressure on the tough outer ring on the disc (you can imagine how when the outer ring is cracked or town, the soft centre can inflame and cause severe pain.

How can this effect you?

By pressing on your nerves, a the pain can effect you in any number of ways you couldn’t imagine - by damaging part of the nerves on your back, they can cause pain all the way down to your toes or fingers.? You might feel a shooting pain all down your arms, which can be immensely painful.
