Cure Back Pain by Preventing it in the First Place!
Posted by admin in Prescription Pain Killers on May 23rd, 2009
Prevention is the best cure for back pain. If I had practice proper lifting techniques and /or the box I lifted had been properly packaged I would have avoided months of pain, doctors visit, physical therapy and finally surgery. So how can you prevent an injury to your back and the suffering that goes with it Below are several time tested methods that will help you prevent the pain and discomfort of back pain.
1. If you’re women wear flat heeled shoes with firm arch support. Heels higher than 3/4-inch may increase lower back pain. Men should wear comfortable shoes with good support.
2. Many back injuries are caused by improper lifting. When lifting objects use your back muscles rather than your leg muscles. If an object is to awkward and/or heavy get some help!
3. Wear back support braces before performing heavy moving or lifting. Back supports are generally inexpensive and your company should provide them. One caution - wearing a brace doesn’t mean you can lift heavier objects. You still need to practice proper lifting methods. Yeah I wasn’t wearing a back support and look what happened to me!
4. Lose weight and trim off those extra pounds. If you are overweight you are putting extra pressure on your back. Dropping those extra pounds will relieve stress on the back muscles.
5. Exercise: Proper moderate exercise at least 3 times a week strengthens core muscles and can prevent back injury. If despite all your precautions you experience a back injury see your doctor. There are many options available to you from rest to surgery. I strongly recommend practice the above tips. For those who are living with back pain please explore all the alternatives before resorting to surgery.
One alternative that has helped thousands is a system called “The Lose the Back Pain”. For more information visit the resource box at the bottom of this article.
